Los integrantes del Gropius Quartett son solistas de prestigio internacional que se conocen desde su etapa como estudiantes en la Academia Internacional de M\u00fasica Menuhin de Gstaad y la Juilliard School de Nueva York. Unidos por su pasi\u00f3n por el repertorio para cuarteto de cuerda, y por una extraordinaria conexi\u00f3n musical y personal, en el a\u00f1o 2018 Friedemann Eichhorn e Indira Koch (violines alternantes), Alexia Eichhorn (viola) y Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt (violonchelo) decidieron fundar el Cuarteto Gropius.<\/p>\n
El Gropius Quartett ha recibido el elogio un\u00e1nime de la cr\u00edtica especializada desde su concierto-debut en el Teatro Nacional de Weimar. Gracias a su electrizante din\u00e1mica y su interpretaci\u00f3n a la vez intuitiva y consolidada, el Cuarteto Gropius se ha labrado una posici\u00f3n entre los cuartetos de cuerda alemanes m\u00e1s destacados. Ha sido invitado a salas y festivales de gran prestigio como la Filarmon\u00eda del Elba de Hamburgo, el Konzerthaus Berlin y el Festival Internacional Bach de Turingia en pa\u00edses como Alemania, EEUU, Canad\u00e1, Espa\u00f1a, Suiza, Dinamarca y Portugal.<\/p>\n
Con un extenso repertorio, el Gropius Quartett ha colaborado con figuras de renombre internacional como el violinista Gidon Kremer, los pianistas Evgeny Kissin, Lily Maisky, Matthias Kirschnereit y Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro, as\u00ed como los violonchelistas Mischa Maisky y Camille Thomas, y ha desarrollado una intensa actividad en el \u00e1mbito de la m\u00fasica contempor\u00e1nea, con encargos a compositores como Enjott Schneider, George Alexander Albrecht y Sir Karl Jenkins.<\/p>\n
En 2024 public\u00f3 su primer disco de estudio con H\u00e4nssler Classical, con obras de Mendelssohn, Dvorak, George Alexander Albert y “El Cant dels Ocells” en honor a Pau Casals. En 2025 NAXOS public\u00f3 su grabaci\u00f3n del cuarteto Divorce y el sexteto Leopards (estreno mundial) del compositor turco Fazil Say. El Cuarteto Gropius tambi\u00e9n aparece en antolog\u00eda “The Chopin Project” de Camille Thomas con Deutschen Grammophon.<\/p>\n
Inspirados por el ejemplo de Walter Gropius, el visionario arquitecto fundador del estilo Bauhaus, y por sus maestros Yehudi Menuhin y Mstislav Rostrop\u00f3vich, el prop\u00f3sito art\u00edstico del Gropius Quartett es destacar la forma de las composiciones y darles vida mediante una interpretaci\u00f3n apasionada.<\/p>\n

El resultado es simplemente extraordinario desde la primera hasta la \u00faltima nota (…) Solo hay que escuchar el \u00faltimo movimiento del Cuarteto de Dvor\u00e1k para comprobar que los cuatro miembros del cuarteto disfrutan tocando m\u00fasica juntos, y hacen disfrutar al oyente con su gran complicidad.
